This consultation centred on drafting a new growth-focused strategic steer to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). Each Parliament, the government publishes a strategic steer to the CMA.

The consultation received 41 responses from a range of interested parties including businesses, trade associations, charities and academics.

Respondents were broadly supportive of the steer, but certain themes emerged and the government’s response to these themes is summarised in ‘Consultation outcome: draft strategic steer to the Competition and Markets Authority’.

The government has now published the strategic steer to the Competition and Markets Authority.
