IDSR release: 22 March 2023

The following data has been published:

  • Key stage 4 revised
  • 16-18 revised
  • pupil movements between 2021 and 2022
  • revised destinations data

We have also made changes to the way we calculate key stage 4 subject entries so that they align with ‘Find school and college performance’.

IDSR release: 8 February 2023

We have updated the inspection data summary report (IDSR) for primary schools.

The following data has been updated:

  • Key stage 2 - revised
  • Key stage 1 - final
  • phonics - final

We have also made minor changes to the pupil movement section of the secondary school IDSR.

IDSR release: 10 January 2023

We have updated the IDSR for schools with key stage 4. The update is a correction to the EBacc science, languages and humanities attainment sentences within the key stage 4 subjects section of the areas of interest. This was due to a methodology issue with the calculation of the highest and lowest 20%. This has not impacted all of these schools.

The correction may result in the EBacc attainment sentences changing. For example, the sentence for the school may now be shown in grey when previously it was highlighted as in the highest or lowest 20%. Quality checks have been conducted to ensure this does not affect other sentences.

IDSR release: 15 December 2022

We have released the December 2022 inspection data summary report (IDSR) for all schools.

The following data has been updated:

  • absence data for 2021/22 (autumn and spring terms)

Pupil movement section

The text relating to pupils for whom we do not have information about in the later census has been improved. This change was made based on feedback we received. Our guidance has additional text to convey that the school may well have information about these pupil who may, for example, have moved overseas. Examples of the existing and new sentences are below.

Older sentence

There is no available information about the destinations of 50 of these 75 pupil(s), 11 of whom left between Years 10 and 11.

New sentence

There is no recorded information in the January 2021 census for 50 of these 75 pupil(s), 11 of whom left between Years 10 and 11.

Trust/LA level information section

The heading for this section dynamic so that if will display as either ‘Trust information’ or ‘LA information’ dependent on school type.

For multi-academy trusts only, overall effectiveness grades based on the latest URN will appear in this section. This will mean that grades associated with a school prior to joining the MAT will now not appear in the grade profile, instead they will appear in the ‘not yet inspected’ section.

IDSR release: 16 November 2022

We have updated the inspection data summary report (IDSR) for secondary schools.

The following data has been updated:

  • key stage 4 attainment and progress data for 2022
  • key stage 4 subject entries for 2022
  • key stage 5 average point score per entry for 2022
  • key stage 5 best 3 A levels and AAB including at least 2 facilitating subjects for 2022
  • expanded pupil movement section covering latest 3 years and movement into alternative provision
  • stability data and disadvantaged pupil group data (key stage 4 only)

IDSR release: 19 October 2022

We have updated the inspection data summary report (IDSR). For all schools, this update includes 2020/21 exclusions data and contextual information, based on January 2022 census data.

The IDSR now shows phonics screening test data for 2022, Key stage 1 & 2 attainment data for 2022, and Key stage 2 progress data for 2022. Responding to feedback, we have also introduced a button at the top of the IDSR that allows users to remove grey sentence content from the report. These greys are the sentences that show that the area has been reviewed but there is nothing to highlight.

At this time, we have not updated stability data & disadvantaged pupil group data nor added new multiplication table check data. We will include these in a future update, as soon as we are able to.

IDSR newsletter: 27 September 2022

We have published the Schools Pre-Inspection Data and Insight team’s third inspection data summary report (IDSR) newsletter.

The planned release date for the primary IDSR and context data is October 2022.

This will include:

  • January 2022 census based contextual information (all schools)
  • exclusions 2020/21 data (all schools)
  • phonics screening test data for 2022
  • key stage 1 attainment data for 2022
  • key stage 2 attainment and progress data for 2022

The planned release date for the secondary IDSR is November 2022.

This will include:

  • key stage 4 attainment and progress data for 2022
  • key stage 5 qualification type entry data for 2022
  • key stage 5 retention data for 2022
  • key stage 5 average point score per entry for 2022
  • key stage 5 best 3 A levels and AAB including at least 2 facilitating subjects for 2022

The 2022 data will be available to inspectors later this term. This data is presented separately because of the uneven impact of the pandemic on schools and variability. Comparisons should not be made with data from earlier years. As always, inspection judgements will not be based on data and evidence alone. Ofsted will use this data with caution and take the COVID-19 context into account when forming a rounded judgement about a school.

IDSR release: 6 June 2022

Removal of early years foundation stage (EYFS) data

Following EYFS reforms and changes to the administration and moderation of EYFS profile data, Ofsted has decided to remove the EYFS profile from the IDSR as of 6 June.

This is in line with action taken by the Department of Education for Analyse School Performance (ASP).

IDSR release: 19 May 2022

We have updated the inspection data summary report (IDSR) with absence data from summer term 2021, based on the DfE published data. We have not included spring 2021 in the IDSR as this was heavily affected by the lockdown from 4 January 2021.

We have also updated the finance data in the context section to 2020/21.
