Details
The planned update of the faster indicator table “Total number of electric vehicle public charging devices available in the UK”, due on 08 November at 09:30 has been postponed. This is while we work with our data supplier, Zapmap, to explore and better understand developments surrounding the underlying data feeds and the impact this may have on the headline figures.
Statistics on electric vehicle charging devices in the UK, published by DfT, are produced using data supplied by the electric vehicle and charging point platform Zapmap who also publish their own analysis of this data on their website.
In the majority of cases, estimates of the number charging devices published by Zapmap and DfT are broadly similar aside from some routine differences, for example differences in the date and time at which snapshots of the data are extracted. The geographical coverage is also different, with Zapmap statistics including the Channel Islands.
Data for November presented a wider than expected divergence in figures between DfT and Zapmap’s estimate, which can be traced to an individual data feed. As part of assuring quality of our Official Statistics products we have paused the release of this data while we investigate this.

In special circumstances, the timing of updates might change for some indicators. Where applicable, the date of the next update will be added to the “Timing of update” field.
Some of the issues will be short term in nature, and the relevant updates will cease once the issue is no longer either in operation or of relevance.

Practical car driving tests - monthly statistics on the numbers of practical car driving tests completed in Great Britain are published since November 2022.
Electric vehicle public charging devices - monthly statistics on the total number of electric vehicle charging devices available in the UK are published since December 2021.
Annual electric vehicle charging device statistics are also published by DfT.
Large goods vehicles vocational driving tests - monthly statistics on the numbers of practical Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) vocational driving tests completed in Great Britain are published since November 2021.
Road hauliers testing - weekly statistics on the number of lateral flow tests conducted on hauliers, and the positivity rate of those tests, are published since early March 2021.
As of 5 March 2022, haulier testing methodology changed, with lateral flow testing no longer being observed, and positive results being self-reported by hauliers (with all other results being assumed to be negative). As a result, data past this date will not be available to us. The final update to this dataset will be provided on 9 March 2022, containing data to 2 March 2022.
