This funding is for students studying core maths qualifications.
This guidance explains how Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) will pay the core maths premium as part of 16 to 19 funding allocations from 2024 to 2025. We explain who is eligible and how we calculate and pay the funding.

We have uploaded the list of eligible qualifications for the advanced maths premium as an attachment due to an error when accessing the links in the guidance.

We have updated this page to confirm that from academic year 2025 to 2026, students eligible for both the advanced maths premium and core maths premium will not receive core maths premium funding if they’re enrolled on advanced maths premium-eligible qualifications in the same academic year. This ensures funding is better targeted to increase participation in maths education for students not already supported by the advanced maths premium.
