Confirm a notarial or document service is not available
Downloadable standard letters to explain services are not available in some British embassies, high commissions and consulates.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office cannot offer certain notarial and document services in some countries. This includes services like witnessing a signature, certifying documents, and administering oaths, affirmations or affidavits, for example, that prove you’re free to marry.
If you need one of these services, you should find a local lawyer (notary).
If you’re asked to provide proof that a service is not available, download the relevant letter as confirmation.
