Details

This guidance details the possible Parole Board decision outcomes for prisoners serving each type of sentence and provides relevant dates for each sentence type.

It highlights where the powers and procedures of the Board are affected by the type of sentence the prisoner is serving and details the process-related issues relevant to specific types of cases.

The guidance has been revised to reflect recent changes in policy and legislation following the Parole Board (Amendment) Rules 2024 and the Victims and Prisoners (VAP) Act 2024, as well as other changes in practice.

This replaces all previous Parole Board guidance on Types of Cases.
