On 18 March 2020, Natural England submitted a collection of reports to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs setting out the proposals for improved access to the coast on the Isle of Wight (IOW).
The opportunity to comment closed at midnight on 9 June 2020. You can no longer make a representation or objection on proposals.
All representations and objections willwere be considered before the Secretary of State makesmade a final decision about the report.
The report is available as a series of separate documents. You should:can:
- read the overview which includes background information to help you understand the proposals and maps
- use the index map to find the relevant report for the length of coast you are interested in
- open the corresponding report for more information
Outcome
On 6 April 2022, the Secretary of State approved the proposals for lengths IOW4 and IOW5.
On 5 May 2023, the Secretary of State approved the proposals for lengths IOW8 and IOW9.
On 7 May 2024, the Secretary of State approved the proposals for length IOW6.
On 16 October 2024, the Secretary of State approved the proposals for length IOW3.
On 2 May 2025, the Secretary of State approved the proposals for lengths IOW2, IOW7 and IOW10.
Natural England will publish further details of the approved route in due course.

On 6 April 2022, the Secretary of State approved the proposals for lengths IOW4 and IOW5.
On 5 May 2023, the Secretary of State approved the proposals for lengths IOW8 and IOW9.
On 7 May 2024, the Secretary of State approved the proposals for length IOW6.
On 16 October 2024, the Secretary of State approved the proposals for length IOW3.
On 2 May 2025, the Secretary of State approved the proposals for lengths IOW2, IOW7 and IOW10.
Natural England will publish further details of the approved route in due course.
