MMO ran a consultation on a potential seasonal closure for the crawfish (Palinurus spp) fishery in ICES area 7 (English waters). The consultation ran from 5 June to 20 July 2025.   
 
MMO will introduce a closure of the crawfish fishery from 17 November 2025 to 31 May 2026 (inclusive). This will apply to all United Kingdom (UK) and European Union (EU) vessels using all gears.

The rationale for the closure is to: to:  

  • offer
