Zero Net Deforestation Goal and its effects on the expansion of agriculture land in Mexico

Analyses the implications that the Zero Net Deforestation Goal would have on the production models of maize, sorghum and sugar cane.

Abstract

This study uses the CLEWs (Climate, Land, Energy, and Water Systems) framework and OSeMOSYS (Open Source Energy Modelling System) tool. It analyses the implications that the Zero Net Deforestation Goal (ZDG) in Mexico would have on the production of the country’s 3 main crops (maize, sorghum, sugar cane).

This work is part of the Climate Compatible Growth programme.
