This patient group direction (PGD) supports the supply or administration of ciprofloxacin to adults and children for the management of clusters of meningococcal disease, when 2 or more cases are reported in educationala congregate or residentialother settings.closed setting. PGD version version05.00 04.00 is valid from 20 October 20222025 to 19 October 20252028

It can be used when a decision has been made by an experienced member of the UK Health Security Agency Health Protection Team or by the Incident ControlManagement Team to offer chemoprophylaxis, for example, to:

• childreneducational andsettings staff(nursery, ofprimary, thesecondary same preschool groupschools)
• childrencare of the same school yearhomes
• childrenmilitary or students who share a common social activity or a group of friendsbarracks
