Detail of outcome
This update outlines the policy reforms the government has made in response to the Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) Regime Call for Evidence, as well as further work being taken forward.
These reforms will ensure the OFTO regime continues to:
- deliver cost-effective offshore transmission infrastructure in Great Britain
- support the delivery of offshore wind towards the government’s Mission to Make Britain a Clean Energy Superpower, and the Clean Power 2030 goal

We have extended the deadline to 9 February 2024 (from 22 January).
We are seeking evidence to support policy development on:
- how to ensure the Offshore Transmission Owner regime remains fit for purpose in the long-term
- ensuring the continued delivery of offshore wind to meet the UK’s net zero target
This call for evidence is open to all, but we would like to hear in particular from anyone with an interest in the Offshore Transmission Owner regime, including:
- offshore wind generators
- offshore transmission owners
- renewable energy trade associations
- offshore wind industry representatives
