What is the Government Economic Service Degree Apprenticeship Programme (GESDAP)?
Ready to tackle the big questions that shape our country’s future? The Government Economic Service Degree Apprenticeship Programme (GESDAP) is your chance to dive straight into meaningful work whilst studying for a fee-free economics degree.
As the UK’s first economics degree apprenticeship, this scheme offers something truly special: the opportunity to work on issues that really matter – from helping UK businesses thrive in a competitive global market, to supporting people to rebuild their lives after prison, to protecting our environment for future generations.
On the GES Degree Level Apprenticeship, you’ll spend four days a week working alongside experienced economists in a government department or agency, then dedicate one day to online study with the University of Kent. It’s hands-on learning that puts you right where decisions are made, giving you real experience that will set you apart.
Our track record speaks for itself – 97% of our recent graduating cohort achieved a 2:1 degree or above. This isn’t just about getting a qualification; it’s about launching a career where your work has genuine impact on millions of people’s lives.
Study with the University of Kent
The University of Kent was selected to deliver the programme because of the strength of their economics courses and the support they offer to apprentices throughout the programme.
The programme is delivered via blended learning and a mixture of distance and face to face teaching, so there is no need to travel to the University regularly. On successful completion, you will gain an economics degree and four years’ experience of working in the Civil Service, setting you up to build a brilliant career as an economist.
