Details

To reduce the risk of carbon leakage, operators covered by the UK Emissions Trading Scheme (UK ETS) with a valid application are provided with a free allocation of allowance.allowances.

The Allocation Table contains a list of each installation’s free allocation for the 2021 to 20252026 allocation period.

Your installationThis willhas notreplaced bethe included2021-2025 inallocation table, following the tableUK ifETS eitherAuthority’s ofannouncement to extend the followingcurrent apply:allocation period to include 2026.

To note on the 2026 scheme year:

  • yourthe application2026 hasscheme beenyear markedis treated as invalidan extension of the current allocation period for the purposes of determining the quantity of free allowances received by installations, subject to change through the activity level change process
  • if your installation iswill receive FA for the first time in 2026, or your installation has sub-installations newly eligible to receive FA due to changes in rules for electricity generators, verified 2023 activity data submitted as part of the baseline data collection has been used to determine free allocation for the 2026 scheme year
  • if you were in receipt of free allocation in 2021-2025 and have joined the 2026-2030 Hospital and Small Emitter or Ultra-Small Emitter opt-outlist, schemesyou will not be in receipt of free allocation in 2026

To note on the 2027-2030 allocation period:

  • the second stage of the application for free allocation for 2027-2030 will take place between 1 April and 30 June 2026. You will only be required to complete the second stage if you submitted the first stage of your FA application between 1 April – 30 June 2025
  • we will notify operators in advance when further guidance on compliance with the requirements of this second stage of the application has been published. Please see the recently published main response to the Free Allocation Review
