e-Waste management for sustainable eCooking in Tanzania
Integrating electric cooking into a country’s broader electrification agenda has been identified as a key component that creates synergies to enhance energy security, manage fuel costs and aligns with global energy and climate goals on the path toward universal clean cooking.
Abstract
This study reviewed international best practices and standards for e-waste management to assess their applicability in enhancing Tanzania’s regulatory framework on e-waste management. It examined the potential impact of eCooking appliances on e-waste generation, proposed infrastructure development for e-waste management as well as integrated 7 policy recommendations that address both e-waste and clean cooking to ensure sustainable transition.
