Period of national mourning from 31 December

Bangladesh will observe 3 of national mourning, starting with a public holiday on 31 December, following the death of Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh. During this time, there may be disruption to a wide range of businesses and services, including entertainment venues, restaurants, bars and shopping areas.

Be sensitive to local circumstances. In public, avoid wearing bright or festive clothing and avoid loud or inappropriate behaviour, especially when visiting places of worship  or government premises.
