This guidance tells HM Passport Office staff how to deal with passport applications from customers who hold British protected persons (BPP) status.
Only examiners with the correct level of training must deal with BPP cases.
This guidance has been updated to make it clear when British protected person status will be lost, if a customer gains any other British nationality; change terminology from ‘overseas’ to ‘international’ customers; and remove references to Application Management System (AMS).
