Mayors of combined and county combined authorities can appoint mayoral commissioners (Deputy Mayors) under new powers. The guidance explains how the role works in practice, including the scope of responsibilities and recruitment and scrutiny processes. The guidance also sets out how these authorities should pay allowances to members undertaking special responsibilities.
