We have published the finalised guidance on GOV.UK: Waste batteries: appropriate measures for permitted facilities.
The new guidance for waste batteries is part our collection of technical guidance for regulated industry sectors: environmental permitting.
Original consultation
Consultation description
The proposed guidance aims to set out clear standards for the design and operation of permitted facilities that store or treat separate collections of waste batteries and ensure that they are applied consistently across the waste sector in order to protect the environment.
The guidance also incorporates the relevant requirements of the waste treatment BAT Conclusions publication, made under the European Industrial Emission Directive (2010/75/EU), which apply to waste installation facilities permitted under the Directive.
