ThisThe administration guidance contains information and videos about administering the RBA, which is statutory for all reception pupils registered at state-funded maintained schools, special schools or academies, including free schools, in England.

The administrationIt guidance provides details on how to:

  • access the 22 assessment newservices assessment services‘Assessment service: start an assessment’ and ‘Assessment service: manage your school’s assessments’
  • prepare for assessment administration
  • administer the assessment
  • view and download narrative statements
  • submit the headteacher’s declaration form

The modified administration guidance helps practitioners ensure that pupils with additional needs can access the assessment. It should be used alongside the administration guidance and provides additional support for practitioners, including details on how to:

  • administer the assessment with appropriate accessibility arrangements and adaptations
  • support pupils with specific needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), sensory impairments or difficulties using a touchscreen
  • use accessibility settings, assistive technology and alternative formats, where appropriate
