Detail of outcome

The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government has decided to downloadimplement, subject to Parliamentary approval, the outcomeproposal for 2 unitary councils to thisbe publicestablished feedback.in East Sussex and Brighton and Hove.

This proposal was submitted by:

  • East Sussex County Council
  • Eastbourne Borough Council
  • Hastings Borough Council
  • Lewes District Council and
  • Rother District Council

The Secretary of State will exercise the power to modify the proposal to achieve the boundary change requested by Brighton and Hove City Council, with the exception of Falmer Parish.

This consultation response summary is a partial response to the consultation. It provides a summary of the responses received on the proposals submitted by councils in the East Sussex and Brighton and Hove invitation area.

No decision has yet been taken on local government reorganisation in West Sussex. A further response covering the responses to proposals submitted by councils in the West Sussex invitation area will be published once a decision has been taken.
