The Prime Minister spoke to Luc Frieden, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, on the train into Kyiv yesterday evening.
The leaders began by discussing the close ties between the UK and Luxembourg, particularly in financial services.
Prime Minister Frieden reflected on his time living in the UK, and the two leaders discussed the shared challenges both countries faced, including the need to drive down unemployment and offer people hope for the future.
The Prime Minister set out his ambitions for the UK to get closer to the European Union, and both agreed on the important cultural and educational ties between the UK and Europe to deliver opportunity for the next generation of Brits and Europeans.
Turning to innovative defence financing initiatives, the two leaders discussed the Defence, Security and Resilience Bank and Multilateral Defence Mechanism and how both schemes could complement one another to drive growth and support supply chains globally.
The leaders looked forward to spending more time together in Kyiv today.
