This regulatory position statement (RPS) does not change your legal requirement to: 

  1. Reportto 2024collect nationand ofreport salenation anddata, self-managed organisational waste data,and plastic and paper bags data in line with the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging and Packaging Waste) Regulations 2024 (the Packaging regulations).Regulations).

  2. Collect and report 2025 nation of sale, self-managed organisational waste and plastic and paper bags data in line with the Packaging Regulations.

However, the Environment Agency will not normally take enforcement action if you do not comply with these legal requirements if you meet the requirements in this this RPS.

This regulatory position does not apply to any other legal requirements.

  1. This RPS has been updated to reflect collecting and reporting nation data, self-managed organisational packaging waste data for 2024 to 2027 and bag data for 2025 to 2027. This RPS will next be reviewed by 31 December 2028.

  2. RPS now includes statement on plastic and paper bags supplied in England.
