Details

When an employer or organisation has concerns that a person has caused harm, or poses a future risk of harm to vulnerable groups, including children, they will refer them to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

The person could be added to one or both of the DBS barred lists

As part of the barring decision making process, the referred person can make representations to to give their views and evidence.

Representations are an important part of making fair, consistent and thorough barring decisions.
