Summary log templates for UK packaging waste

Reprocessors and exporters need to use summary logs to record packaging waste activity. Summary logs are spreadsheets that record data about each load that arrives or leaves your site for each registration or accreditation that you hold.  Read an overview of summary logs.

Template status

Summary log templates may change until the requirement to complete them comes into force from 1 January 2026. They will not change during 2026. The supplementary guidance may change throughout the year as we receive feedback.

We’re publishing the templates and guidance before 2026 so you can prepare.  

There is currently 1 template available so far. It is for accredited reprocessors who are issuing packaging recycling notes (PRNs) on packaging waste received for recycling at a reprocessing site.  

This template is an example only and illustrates the type of information you will need to provide. Do not use it to enter your real data as the template and guidance may change until 1 January 2026.  

The example template for accredited exporters will be published by Fridaythe 21end of November 2025.
