Packaging data: check reporting periods and submission deadlines

Reporting periods (when you must collect packaging data) and deadlines forfor submitting your submitting your data depend on:on:

You must also register by the the registration deadline every every year.year.

If you miss a submission deadline, you should contact your environmental regulator. This is:is: 

• the the Environment Agency (EA) in in England

• Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA)

   

Large producers: when to collect and submit dataand submit data 

You must collect andand submit your submit your packaging data on a 6-monthly basis:basis. Deadlines for reporting the data you’ve collected are: 

• 1 April -- for submitdata yourcovering 1 dataJuly forto 31 December of the previous year 
• 1 October - for data covering 1 January to 30 June of the previoussame yearyear

The data you collect andand submit for submit for 2024 will be used to calculate your calculate your recycling obligations and any waste management fees you must pay in 2025. .  

2025 datadata 

The deadline forfor submitting data submitting data collected from 1 January to 30 June 2025 was 1 October 2025. Contact your environmental regulator if you missed the submission deadline.2025. 

You will need toto submit data submit data you collect for the second half of 2025 (1 July to 31 December) by 1 April 2026.2026. 

Small producers: when to collect and submit dataand submit data

When When creating your data file,, you’ll need you’ll need to select the reporting period from January to December 2024, even if you did not start to collect data until April.April.

2025 datadata

Registration deadlines 

Large producers must registerregister each year forby 1 October. This is to ensure you pay the followingcorrect fees and meet your recycling obligations for packaging you supplied for the previous year by(1 OctoberJanuary 2025.to 31 December). 

Small producers must registerregister each year by 1 April to ensure you pay the correct fees for thatpackaging you supplied for the previous year by(1 AprilJanuary 2026.and 31 December).
