Details
You must register all boats kept, used or let for hire on Environment Agency waterways.
The ‘charging schemes from 2025’ document gives the boat registration charges that apply after:
- 1 January 2025 for Thames
- 1 April 2025 for Anglian and Medway
The ‘charging schemes from 2022’ document gives the boat registration charges that apply until 31 March 2025 for Anglian waterways and Medway navigation.

Updated paragraph 1.5. Prices will increase in line with the Consumer Prices Index on 1 January 2027 for the River Thames and on 1 April 2027 for the Medway navigation and the Anglian waterways. Prices will then increase annually on those dates in line with the CPI increase.
