  1. This guidance has been updated: with a new section 'Customer incorrectly applied to renew a Home Office travel document' to tell examiners what to do if the customer applies, in error, to renew their Home Office travel document. Also amended the section 'How to cancel a Home Office travel document'. A full list of changes can be found in the guide.

  2. Updated the guidance to: include the new correspondence address for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI); change terminology from ‘overseas’ to ‘international’ when referring to applications and customers; remove references to the Application Management System; and to tell examiners how to instruct DHU's to cancel and destroy the document or return it to the customer if it contains valid visas.

  3. Updated information about how to process an emergency travel document when it is returned to HM Passport Office and what to do when a Home Office travel document is lost. Updated correspondence address for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).

  4. Guidance updated to reflect that ARD (Application Receive Domain) will automatically populate the address for the return of travel documents.
