Details
The government’s heat pump investment accelerator competition, worth up to £30 million in total, aims to bring forward investment in the UK heat pump manufacturing supply chain, to build resilience, create new low carbon jobs and secure the economic benefits of net zero.
The competition will be open to UK registered businesses (which includes those that may be set up for the purpose of delivering the project in the application), who can apply for grant funding of up to £15 million per project, for major investments in the manufacture of heat pumps and strategically important components.
The application window has not yet opened, however we are providing the draft guidance for interested parties to consider in order to help them begin to prepare their bids and to understand what is required of them. The draft guidance is still subject to review by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and may be subject to change.
Submitting an expression of interest
An expression of interest form is available for manufacturers considering submitting a proposal to provide some initial details about what projects they might be considering. Submitting an expression of interest will allow officials to gauge the level of interest in the competition and have more detailed discussions with potential applicants about their proposals. This expression of interest is not a requirement to participate in the competition once it has gone live for applications.
The expression of interest form should be submitted to heatpumpaccelerator@beis.gov.uk by 3pm on Friday 28 April 2023.
To be notified when the competition is live, please email us at heatpumpaccelerator@beis.gov.uk and we will add you to our mailing list.
How to apply
Once the competition is live for applications, prospective applicants should read the scheme guidance and then download the application form and supporting templates.
Further information will be provided once the competition has gone live for applications.
