TakingTeachingFurther(TTF) is a 2-year programme that supports further education (FE) providers to recruit and provide early career support to those with relevant knowledge and industry experience, to retrain as FE teachers.

Funding is also available to support recruits who will:
teach English, maths, or science
provide support to students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
Available funding
Providers can apply for funding ofeither£15,200or£21,200perrecruit,dependingontheteachertrainingroutetaken.Thisfundingisto cover the cost of an early career support package, including a reduced timetable, for new teaching recruits.recruits Thetaking funding available is:either:
£21,200 per recruit for an Ofqual-regulated, classroom-based teaching qualification at level 5 or higher
£15,200 per recruit for the learning and skills teacher apprenticeship
Guidance and eligibility for TTF 20252024
TTF 20252024 is open to eligible FE providers through 2 routes:
route 1 is open to general FE colleges, sixth-form colleges, landland-based based colleges (agriculture and animal sciences) and institutes of adult learning
route 2 is open to independent training providers, employer providers, third sector training providers, local authority providers, adult and community learning providers, and specialist post-16 institutions
If your college is part of a college group, registration must be done at group level by the college with a direct relationship with the DepartmentEducation forand EducationSkillsFundingAgency(DfEESFA).
The deadlineforregisteringis5pmon14June2024.
Theregistration form should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. You will need:
the name, address and your type of college, group or organisation
your UK provider reference number (UKPRN)
the name, position and email address of your TTF programme lead
contact details for the principal or chief executive officer
You will alsoneed to provide the number of TTF 20252024 places you think you will needneed, inand thehow initialmany allocation. There will be a maximum of 2therequestedplaces per provider.
You will needbe tofor indicateeach theteacher training route for each requested place.route.
Route 2 is administered on a first-come-first-served basis, so the registration window for this will close once all available places arehavebeenallocated. You should register as soon as possible.
There is an option to register an expression of interest if any additional places become available, however these are subject to availability and are not guaranteed.
We aim to confirm initial allocations by July 2025.2024.

Applications for the TTF programme are currently closed. Department for Education is now responsible for the delivery of TTF, replacing the Education and Training Foundation (ETF).
